JSD Rail have been involved with the National Rail borne Weed Spray planning program for a number of years and are looking for a highly motivated enthusiastic assistant train planner.
The Network Rail Weed Spray train plan is one of the more complex within the industry running at slow speeds usually at night within the busy WTT/STP FOC and TOC services. With multiple reverse moves and visiting some of the busiest stations on the Network it is a challenging but rewarding role.
Working closely with other members of the team you will be required to create Weed Spray circuits based upon track access and train paths available ensuring that all the required running lines are covered within the whole Network which equates to nearly 19,000 miles. Building good working relationships between various sectors within the industry is one of the main factors involving Network Rail and various F.O.C.S to ensure that the plans meet industry requirements.
During the busy season you will be required to make short notice planning arrangements to meet customer delivery requirements along with the necessary weed spray task lists for use by the operations department.
Attention to detail is paramount and an extensive knowledge of railway geography is highly desirable. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has had a minimum of 5 years rail experience who can quickly adapt to the role and can be self motivated within the home environment.
