We are currently recruiting for a VCC Tester to join our DLR programme in London.

Reporting to the Test & Commissioning Manager, the VCC Tester will be an experienced functional and principles tester and able to demonstrate their competence through a recognised competence assessment or licensing scheme. Main features of the role will be to conduct VCC validation testing activities in the field for the DLR SELTrac IS signalling system, ensuring safe implementation and entry in to operational service.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Complete safety critical informal/formal testing of the VCC within the railway environment, considering all safety implications under the control of a lead tester who is responsible for the test environment.  

• Plan and document informal/formal testing sessions.

• Formally review and sign off completed test certificates ensuring all certificates are properly completed and any anomalies noted and investigated to the extent possible.

• Provide technical leadership for fault investigation/rectification and test activities as required.  This may include providing technical leadership to other Thales staff from different teams within the department, from other departments, or sub-contractors.  

• Ensures correct procedures, tools, and equipment are available to complete allocated tasks.

• Develops new tools or system configurations as required to accomplish tasks.

• Proposes temporary or permanent design modifications as required to commission the Seltrac System and its external interfaces.

• Works with the test team and design teams to develop novel approaches to problems encountered in the field.

• Creates and implements test strategies for unique interfaces.

• Supplements standard test procedures by writing additional test procedures as required for integration purposes and/or formal validation in the field.  

• Carryout problem solving to effect positive change with respect to quality, costs, test cycle reductions and ease of test.

• Provide input to test reports for V&V, System Integration and Commissioning activities.

• Work closely with external interface groups on a technical level.

Essential

• SELTrac IS signalling system, VCC testing specifically,

• Registered KAD check certificate holder,

• Knowledge of Test and Commissioning processes,

• Able to use computer tools including Microsoft Office and databases,

• Experience or knowledge of working within Health & Safety guidelines,

• Experience working within the rail industry.

• Technical assurance including requirements capture,

• Industry and European standards,

• Hold an IRSE Principle testers Licence
