The Elizabeth Line is the latest addition to London’s transport network and will dramatically improve transport links in the Capital. To support our vision of delivering a world-class railway, as a Verification Specialist, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the necessary measures to support and develop assessors. You will also validate the quality and effectiveness of the assessment aspects of the competence management system, to ensure they are being delivered as intended.
From time to time you will be required to travel to various locations where our teams are based dependent on the business needs.
Your key accountabilities:
• Work regularly with competence assessors to discuss and monitor quality assurance issues relating to assessment and provide support, advice, guidance and updates to them.
• Identify assessor learning needs and ensure findings are addressed so that assessors remain professionally and occupationally competent.
• Ensure assessors’ judgments are consistent to maintain standardised quality assessment.
• Check the quality of competence assessments to determine the use of appropriate competence standards, methods of assessment and the consistent use of the procedures and work instructions developed for the Competence Management System (CMS).
• Ensure the design of the CMS takes account of human factors and that requirements are realistic and achievable.
• Conduct sampling and other checks on the current competencies of managers operating the system.
• Plan and undertake audits as required under the Quality Assurance Plan and assist in the delivery of other assurance processes.
• Produce and maintain auditable records related to the application of the verification process.
• Support the CMS audit and review programme as directed by the Competence Compliance and Assurance Manager.
Knowledge
Essential
• Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice (or previous equivalent V1/D34) or working towards these qualifications.
• Deep understanding of railway operations and maintenance activities
• Knowledge and application of competence management systems and internal verification activities
Desirable
• Relevant experience in auditing.
• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation and other Railway legislations.
• Associate membership of a relevant professional body.
Skills
• Ability to effectively plan and organise own workload and work to strict deadlines.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and able to build good rapport amongst peers.
• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of a system database.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, in particular, Word and Excel.
• Proven ability to work well within own team, with other teams as well as on one’s own.
• Excellent planning and organizing skills to effectively manage your own working time.
Experience
• Experience in assessing and verifying competence within the Railway Industry or any other highly regulated industry.
• Experience in developing high standard feedback reports.
• Experience in identifying and implementing corrective actions and recommendations.
• Experience in developing and promoting best practice.
