Mane are recruiting for a Warehouse Assistant to work on a 9 month contract in Ulverston.
The primary function of the warehouse assistant role is to pack all goods ready for despatch in a safe and timely manner in line with all company, customer and regulatory body requirements.
Responsibilities include the packing and visual checking of all goods ready for shipment and the completion and recording of all related documentation, liaising with internal customers as well as external courier services, ensuring that stock levels are maintained by effectively communicating with the Despatch Cell Manager and carrying out weekly safety inspections on the Fork Lift Truck and maintaining the inspection records accurately.This is a very busy department so ability to prioritise your workload is essential to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality, health and safety. Support will be provided by Despatch Cell Manager, but you will be expected to carry out the role with minimum supervision.
Key Responsibilities & Duties: Include the Position Description from GRIP catalogue and supplement with additional responsibilities specific to the role
* Accepts incoming goods and compares them with the shipping document (Material number, description, quantity).
* Checks incoming goods for visible damage, documents them and provides the information if required.
* Takes care for correct use of transport equipment (hand-guided industrial trucks, forklift, etc.).
* Captures relevant data in data processing systems.
* Arranges the acceptance, storage, commissioning and removal of goods in the storage area and records them in the appropriate systems.
* Organizes a regular stock maintenance and inventory in the storage area.
* Assembles deliveries out of given storage compartments and reviews for completeness and accuracy (e.g. quantity and article number in reference to the respective delivery notes).
* Completes packaging of deliveries having regard to shipping instructions, common methods of dispatch, types of packaging and other instructions (e.g. Dangerous Goods) in the given framework.
* Adds the corresponding shipping documents to the outgoing goods.
* Completes transports inside and if applicable outside the premises with professional usage of appropriate means of transportation.
To ensure accurate records are maintained and correct documentation produced in a timely manner enabling the product to be despatched in line with customer expectations
*To ensure all despatch shipping details are recorded as required.
*To safely check, pack and label all products for shipment.
*Ensure the safe and timely delivery of products.
*Liaise with all departments to ensure customer despatch requirements are met.
*Assist in other areas of dispatch as appropriate.
*Ensure Section 3 of Group HSE manual is adhered to at all times.
Mandatory
*GCSE's grade C or above in English and Maths.
*Excellent time management/organisational skills.
*Computer literate (Excel & Word).
*Excellent attention to detail.
*Flexible and adaptable.
*Ability to work on own initiative and in team situations.
Desirable
*Warehousing and storage qualification
*FLT Licence
*Knowledge of Tronic Products
*Knowledge/understanding of MPR/ERP systems
*HMRC Import/Export training
*Strong interpersonal / communication skills
*Fully conversant with all MS Office packages
*Previous Health and Safety/Compliance training
*Experience of using hand tools (basic woodworking skills).
