Company

You’ll be working with a great team in a busy train maintenance depot where heavy overhauls and repairs are conducted. This company offers excellent training and long-term progression where you can expect ongoing support in developing your skills and competencies.

Role Responsibilities

You will be using the wheel lathe to reprofile wheelsets, ensuring the geometry of the wheel running surface meets specification. In addition to operating the wheel lathe, you will support maintenance teams in meeting production, quality and safety standards by providing expert advice and hands-on repair of rolling stock units.

Ideal Candidate

You’ll be an experienced rolling stock maintenance engineer who has operated wheel lathes and has advanced knowledge of depot safety. Strong coaching and mentoring skills is essential as is a proactive approach to work.

Requirements

You’ll need a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline, be trained to use a wheel lathe in a rolling stock workshop and be experienced in the maintenance and repair of rolling stock. You will be working shifts including days and nights so must be comfortable with this.

Salary and Benefits

You can expect a salary c£43,000, free travel across the whole network, final salary pension and long-term training and development.
