Samuel Knight Rail are currently recruiting to hire an engineer for our national sized Rolling Stock client, who are integrating new technology onto rolling stock fleets, delivering on a number of recently won maintenance contracts.

Our client provide full maintenance solutions, from the contract award to installation. This includes planning, design & procurement of materials. As principle engineer, you will be the focal point of technical issues on these key projects.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Technical Engineering & your key responsibilities will be :

• Responsible for meeting engineering deliverables, across fleets taken from both train and freight operators
• As principle engineer, support the head of Engineering and the contract project manager
• Create non technical drawings, supporting the design team in production of technical drawings
• Identify the correct materials to the procurement team
• Vehicle surveys
• Client support and contact lead

The role will require some management responsibility and experience in this area would be advantageous in an application, but not essential.

In summary you will be ensuring the work is undertaken within the agreed project scope, project timescales & project quality. The work will meet all pre-agreed technical & safety promises, while you will represent the company in a professional and positive way to the customer.

Qualifications & experience:

• Degree level education or compensating Rolling Stock experience within Engineering.
• Considerable experience in technical Railway engineering
• Vehicle systems knowledge
