My client is currently recruiting for a Product Support Engineer for a part time contract position based in London.

Hours 1 x 37 hour week at Widnes initially, then between 4 and 10 days per 4 week period at Northfields depot in London - this is dependent on need. We envisage a mix of single day and 2 day visits to Northfields

Base location Supervision from Widnes; individual can otherwise work from home location in York to designated site of activity at Northfields depot in London

To attend Widnes for 1 week for product familiarisation and anomaly briefing prior to a part-time deployment at TfL's Northfields (or from time to time Cockfosters) depot in London.

To be available at the customer depot for engineering liaison upon delivery of overhauled PCM sets by the client, at the point of (a) static lineside commissioning (1 to 2 days per set) and (b) on installation onto train and dynamic commissioning (1 to 2 days per set). Subject to agreement of customer schedule we envisage a minimum of 4 x 1 day deployments per 4 week period and a maximum of 5 x 2 day deployments per 4 week period.

Role is to include:-

  • witnessing of test and commissioning at both stages (a) and (b) above
  • liaison with customer's engineers and technicians on any questions or anomalies identified, noting and reporting of those issues to the project team in Widnes
  • advice and appraisal of any customer actions deemed as beneficial to achieving safe and reliable working of The client equipment, by communication to The client and to customer
  • assist by reporting, where appropriate, in the improvement of product or of process to The client
  • assist The client in the guidance of customers representatives in the event of anomalies caused by The client, including advice on rectification activity
  • represent The client's technical and commercial interest to customer, and represent the customer's technical and commercial interest to The client
  • aid the growth of The client's body of knowledge in product snagging, reliability improvement and managing non-conformances
  • contribute to the client/TfL weekly issues log (recognising part-time nature of role weekly attendance at the meeting NOT mandatory)
  • further attendance at Widnes for liaison and development purposes as required
  • reporting of issues and risks to The client that may be prejudicial to the overhaul program
  • liaison with Widnes' Project Management, Engineering and Quality functions on an ongoing basis
