Product Tester
Reporting to the Product Cell Manager or Test Team Leader you will be responsible for the testing to Specifications, AC and DC motors, power modules and miscellaneous electrical / electronic assemblies.
Location
Initially based at large rail depot in Preston but must be willing to relocate to brand new rail facility in Widnes in the spring.
Pay
£17.49 per hour
£23.26 per hour (overtime)
Hours
37 hours per week
Key responsibilities include:
* Work as part of a multi-skilled team
* Test new and refurbished electrical/electronic traction equipment.
* Identify and recommend alternative Test methods, materials and standards for new build and return items.
* Assist in the development of Test methods
* Evaluate repaired electrical/electronic traction equipment
* Assist in the evaluation of Customer returns and work closely with team to turn around items in a short timescale
* Liaise with Line Manager and Engineers, to establish fault analysis reports.
* Work closely with suppliers and sub-contractors to provide a high level of service
* Identify possible Corrective Action for any failures.
* Complete appropriate documentation, to enable meaningful analysis to be made and to enable feedback to be given to Projects and Customers on defects and causes.
Key skills and requirements for the role include:-
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English Language as a minimum
* NVQ3 / ONC / HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
* Experience in a similar role: e.g. Power Module and Electronics Test would be an advantage.
* Experienced in fault-finding techniques down to component level
* Experienced in the application and use of a wide variety of standard and bespoke Test Equipment
* Knowledge of Traction applications would be an advantage
* Experience of electrical testing preferably power modules & electronics test, & product support
* Knowledge of traction applications would be advantage
* Able to absorb large quantities of information whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to write clearly and precisely
* Ability to learn and test a variety of Power Modules and Switch Gear
* Ability to learn and utilise DITMCO test equipment.
* Good interpersonal skills
* General IT skills (Microsoft Office)
* Able to build effective working relationships
