The company has is established at providing engineering, ECM, maintenance, repair and overhaul services to Freight, passenger and specialised train operators.

UKRL’s HQ and operating centre is based at a purpose-built railway depot in the centre of Leicester.
Reporting into the General Manager, the Production Manager will be a key member of the team and the role will be valued and rewarded accordingly
Responsibilities:
• Management of the shop floor with responsibility for health & safety, delivery of the production plan, quality and efficiency.
• Team Management with responsibility for performance, appraisals, and creating a harmonious working environment.
• Setting robust weekly/monthly plans for delivering our customers’ expectations, by ensuring the required people, materials, information and infrastructure is available according to the plan.
• Understanding capacity levels and identifying any clashes or shortfalls in work before they happen.
• Setting and managing overtime and staff holiday bookings, arranging cover accordingly.
• Helping to resolve production problems on the shop floor.
• Liaise as Single Point of Contact with customers for urgent/emergency work and work arising so that any such work is carried out in an organised, prioritised and safe manner.
• Liaise and assist with customers and estimating, to include learning repair and overhaul processes for more complex work.
• Ensuring the correct Risk Assessments and Method Statements are in place for any work away from UKRL premises.
• Ensuring staff work efficiently, effectively and safely at all times.
• Ensuring Accidents and incidents are reported and investigated in line with the Business Management System requirements.
• Identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
Skills and Experience:
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and processes.
• Experience of planning and organising production schedules in an engineering environment.
• Experience of successfully managing and motivating teams.
• A proactive team player, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
• Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft WORD, EXCEL & PROJECT.
