Assistant Project Manager
London
THE COMPANY
Our client is a long-standing, industry-leading main contractor across the rail sector and they now need you to join a major new project as an Assistant Project Manager. With decades of experience under their belts, this giant of the industry has worked on some of the most high-profile and well-recognised infrastructure projects in the UK and have a strong track record of delivering excellence. For this current project, our client has turned their attention to a central London underground station and have plans to carry out a full electrical upgrade over the next few months, including lighting, cabling and communication systems throughout the stations. Interested? Keep reading to find out how you can be their next Assistant Project Manager.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for all allocated installation teams under your control, so you’ll need top quality man management skills. As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll also get involved with site surveys, programming, progress reports and site audits, so it’s a great chance to get stuck into the heart of the project. You’ll be involved from the start, with initial responsibilities including assisting in the planning of labour resources, budgets and timescales, so you’ll truly have the opportunity to make your mark here. If you thrive on supervising others, don’t worry, there’s still plenty of that involved – with up to 30 indirect reports, it’ll still fall under you to hold weekly toolbox talks and ensure all work is undertaken according to the project programmes you’ve helped create. With such a broad range of duties, this is the perfect project to kick-start your career to the next level with a major contractor on the world-famous London Underground network.
THE CANDIDATE
This project is an electrical package refurbishment, so you will need to have a strong electrical bias and a lengthy background in electrical engineering. You’ll also need to have previous rail experience, preferably on the London Underground, and you’ll ideally have worked on station refurbishments, too. There is a heavy focus on paperwork in this role, so you’ll need to have experience of getting involved in the programming side of a project as well as standard site paperwork. You’ll also need top notch liaison skills, an authoritative management style and the drive to jump in and hit the ground running with this role. In terms of hours of work, you’ll be working day shifts most of the time but you will be required to do at least one engineering hours night shift a week, so you need to be prepared to be a little flexible! Most importantly of all, our client needs someone to start straight away, so you'll need to be available immediately to be successful on this one. If this all sounds like you, I want to hear from you today!
