Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment specialists are looking for an Electronic Engineer from the rail or defence sector looking to become a key member of the UK’s largest Overhaul and maintenance service provider.
The Role:
Our Client is seeking an Electronics Project and Obsolescence Engineer to provide outstanding engineering support for the UK business, associated with electronic system obsolescence.
Main Responsibilities of the role, are as followed:
- Apply a range of engineering skills to produce technically sound proposals, with due consideration given to manufacturing capabilities, product design requirements and product costs.
- Develop a system to manage the obsolescence status of Electronic products in the UK, working closely with the Engineering centre of competence in France
- Preparation of product specifications and calculations. These may typically include:
- Equipment proposal drawings.
- Undertake Obsolescence studies for existing and non-existing products
- Design and develop solutions to maintain system function where obsolescence issues occur.
- Technical Specifications for overhaul and upgrades.
- Validation of technical solutions in accordance with Rail standards
- Clause by clause responses to specifications / standards as required.
- Collation and presentation of all forms of data in the preparation of a Technical
- Engineering calculations to determine equipment suitability.
- Prepare and support Risk Assessments to achieve equipment acceptance.
- Present information and data to various audiences including Customers.
- Undertake product testing, which includes specification and report creation.
- Develop and conduct static and dynamic vehicle testing of equipment.
- Follow the requirements of the UK Quality procedures.
Essential Requirements
- HND in Electrical /Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Experience of Rail products, especially current / Legacy electronics
- Experience of Reverse engineer
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Capable of writing Technical documents
- Proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to efficiently organise work load.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft office applications.
- Able to travel regularly in the UK and Ireland, and throughout time to time abroad
- Full Driving licence
Desirable Requirements
- Electrical/Electronic Degree
- Experience working in a Project Engineering Role.
