Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts have partnered up with a rail vehicle enhancement specialist in the Midlands. Part of a wider group, our client is in a situation where they need to ensure they are prepared for a growing demand in its engineering division and the specialist services they provide to their clients in the rail industry.

The opportunity is for a Senior Project Manager, Programme Manager or Lead Project Manager to step up in a Head of Project Delivery/Engineering Projects role for our clients ongoing rolling stock overhaul and enhancement workload, to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest of standards expected by their customer base.

Responsibilities

• Building engineering teams and co-ordinating resources to deliver engineering projects
• Defining and demonstrating engineering project requirements are met and the management of engineering risks
• Developing and managing effective project engineering plans and reporting on performance to the delivery programme and budget
• Ensuring project engineering processes are planned and executed
• Working closely with external/internal customers on engineering progress and issues
• Developing engineering proposals and budgets for new projects

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in a project delivery role, ideally in the rail sector or transferable industry such as aerospace, technology or heavy engineering.
• Have proven experience of managing teams, getting the best out of multidisciplinary specialist engineers such as design engineers, projects managers and project engineers.
• Have a background where you have been client facing, being a good stakeholder manager and managing relationships of internal functions.
• Have experience and knowledge of full product lifecycles, including an understanding of concept and design with any of the above industries.
