About the role / project:
Lead on Project Accounting and Project Director/Manager (PD/PM) Finance Business Support.
What you will do:
- Manage project aspects and access rights of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (BST).
- Approve set up and eventual close-down of project related records on the ERP system.
- Review and approve project related supplier and sub-consultant invoices and expenses.
- Manage the review of timesheets approved by PD's for accuracy.
- Understand and implement regulatory requirement in the clients' jurisdiction, eg Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) in the US.
- Manage collation of information and query resolution for internal and external auditors as required.
- Manage all project-related billings to clients.
- Partner stakeholders in the management of debt and work-in-progress.
- Work in partnership with the Financial Controller (FC) and Finance Director (FD) on reporting, analysing and improving cash flow management.
- Manage the preparation of consolidated project accounts adhering to technical standards in accordance with statutory and group policy.
- Review and challenge the financial performance of business areas at regular meetings with Regional Directors (RD's) and Vice Presidents (VP's) against budgets and forecasts.
- Manage the content and distribution of management information reports to senior stakeholders.
- Partner the RD's and Managing Director (MD) on the preparation of project budgets and forecasts - including resource planning - identifying risks, opportunities and efficiencies.
- Maintain appropriate controls to enable compliance with the company's commercial policies and procedures and promote awareness of financial and corporate governance standards.
- Manage and support best practice sharing, standardisation and continuous improvement of end to end processes within the global team.
Experience:
Essential
- Knowledge of managing projects based around the accounting principles of "Earned Value"
- High level of understanding of financial systems and policies within the company
- Student / part membership (or equivalent) of the relevant professional body having progressed beyond the fist stage of qualification, or possession of sufficient experience to fulfil the requirements of the role without membership to the relevant professional body.
- High level numerical skills and ability to interpret data quickly
- Strong leadership ability
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside of the business, particularly with non-finance managers.
- Can demonstrate innovative thinking in taking actions to improve performance and problem solving.
Desirable
- Experience of international businesses particularly USA, Middle East and ANZ
- Experience of managing international consultancy projects
- Experience of BST Global financial and project management systems
