Job title: Project Commercial Manager - Rail and Rolling Stock
Job location: Derbyshire
Contract rate: £Negotiable DOE
My client is a global organisation who design, manufacture and maintain passenger trains throughout the UK.
We are looking for an experienced Project Commercial Manager to join the Commercial Management Team. As a Project Commercial Manager you will take the commercial lead on a variety of complex Projects and Bids across the Western Europe region, providing leadership, advice, guidance and support in Commercial Management to the Region (in particular UK). In this role you will lead the delivery of a professional commercial and contractual management service at all stages of the project execution lifecycle including being part of the approval process for financial commitment.
Key Responsibilities and Challenges:
- In-life management of commercial and contractual relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers (via Procurement), including conducting negotiations, issue/problem resolution
- Implementation of Contract management tools and procedures (including Obligation, Documentation and Change Management and Contract Awareness) to projects, so that commercial control is maintained throughout the projects' lifetime
- Leadership in the provision of commercial and contractual direction, evaluation of Variation Orders and associated contract amendments
- Management of the Risks and Opportunities Process and Database in conjunction with Operations
Leading return of knowledge and representing Project Commercial interest's into future Bids
- Participation in Commercial Contract Tools Development with other areas of the wider business as the team representative
- Training, mentoring and influencing other members of the Project Core Team in Commercial Contract matters
- Positively lead compliance with our internal directives, guidelines, procedures and policies as regards commercial practice in Project Execution
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree qualified in Business, Engineering or Law or similar with further business or academic qualifications
- Extensive commercial and business awareness together with detailed experience in complex contract management including diligent document control, reporting, drafting and preparation of claims and/or variations
- A wealth of practical experience developing business proposals with the focus on developing attractive and compelling commercial agreements
- Demonstrable ability to successfully conduct commercial contractual negotiations with Customers and Partners at both project and senior levels
- Profound understanding of contract law, business accounts, accounting practices as well as current British and European legal frameworks with emphasis on PFI, PPP and service/outsourcing contracts
- Strong commercial acumen with the drive to succeed to achieve outstanding results
- Comfortable in applying relevant tools and techniques to support decisions and thinking creatively about problems and problem solving solutions
- Experienced in instilling a culture of collaboration and leading by example in actions, delivery and behaviours
