Looking for an experienced civils based engineer to join an existing team based in Manchester working in the IPNP Enhancements team.
There is a portfolio of multidisciplinary project works across the North West region, including platform extensions, gauging, depot construction, line-speed enhancements and other major railway-infrastructure schemes.
Design and construction experience is crucial, specifically relating to bridges and bridge renewal work in the rail & road environment (rail over rail, rail over road, road over rail) as well as Remedial type works – steel work repairs, earthworks etc.
What you will do:
You will manage design and/or construction activities so that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design and/or construction on allocated projects within the national programme with compliance to the requirements of the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), relevant legislation, Group and company standards, and Network Rail procedures.
Your experience will include:
An accomplished civil engineer, with extensive railway engineering experience, is essential to fulfil the requirements on this role
You will have had previous involvement in civils design, engineering assurance and some railway construction and preferably be a candidate who has previously been appointed as Civils design CRE contractors responsible engineer or has held a Network Rail “Authority-to-Work” appointment.
Essential
- Successful relevant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas.
- Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
- Knowledge of quality assurance.
- An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
- CDM, risk assessment, auditing internal and external competency.
- CITB CSCS scheme.
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
- Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
- An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
- Project safety management experience
- Yellow book course.
