Project Manager
(Control Systems)
Purpose of the job
Delivery of multiple complex railway control systems and technology development projects to a client base across the UK & Ireland
To manage a portfolio of projects and programmes to the contractual commitments and programme milestones
Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Manager shall liaise with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary to conduct the works assigned
The post is based in Radlett with frequent travel to various nationwide customer offices and project sites
Main duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of the project management plan and programme of works for their respective projects
- Responsible for the preparation and readiness in advance of progress and financial reviews with the Project Director
- Responsible for the delivery of all allocated projects in line with the contract requirements and prescribed quality procedures
- Effective client and stakeholder management
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of a project by project risk and opportunities register
- Responsible for the safe delivery of works in accordance with company procedures relating to environmental, health and safety as well as any applicable legislation
- Responsible for ensuring that all site reportable incidents are recorded and managed
- Develop and maintain a professional relationship with the client at all levels throughout the project life cycle
- Demonstrate effective day to day management of the allocated projects
- Ensure projects or programmes are effectively closed out in accordance with the contract requirements
- Take a leading role with environmental, health and safety and conduct regular safety conversations with the delivery team
- Candidate Requirements
Essential
- HND / Degree in an applicable business discipline
- Strong leadership characteristics and people management skills
- Good communication skills
- Proactive and punctual in undertaking duties
- Impeccable organisational skills
- Knowledge of Network Rail industry standards
- Knowledge of applicable legislation
- Detailed knowledge of project delivery processes
- Knowledge of railway control systems products and domain experience
- Willingness to travel in the UK and Ireland
- Membership of an accredited industry body, such as the APM or the IET
- Commercially astute with experience
- Understanding of planning process or Primavera P6 schedules
- Awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements, regulations and legislation
Desired
- MBA / Master’s degree in an applicable business discipline
- Strong domain and product experience with railway control systems
- Knowledge and experience of railway traffic management systems
- Experience with contractual and commercial delivery of Network Rail and NEC contracting terms and conditions.
- Recognised qualification within Environmental, Health & Safety
