Project Manager - Earthworks in Leeds, United Kingdom

We are a primary contractor for Network Rail delivering a diverse range of projects from earthworks and embankment stabilisation schemes to major structural projects such as footbridge replacements and bridge refurbishments.

MAIN DUTIES:

As a Project Manager you will be responsible for the management of Network Rail and multiple rail related infrastructure Projects to requisite performance criteria, ensuring KPI’s are met in line with client expectations.

To be successful in the role you will maintain and develop client relationships on the basis of mutual trust and high standards of project performance, develop and promote existing and new work opportunities.

  • Management of multiple Network Rail and rail related infrastructure contracts
  • Liaise with client personnel and represent the company at Client Progress Meetings
  • Requisition of major items of temporary & permanent works materials, sub-contractors, plant & equipment necessary to achieve the contract delivery as per delegated levels of authority
  • Planning, coordination, motivation & effective deployment of allocated Site Managers, Site Personnel & Resources
  • Prepare & implement Site specific management plans to ensure site activities comply with policies
  • Safe Work Planning as Responsible Manager; production, authorisation & review of Safe Work Pack in accordance with NR Standard NR/L2/OHS/019
  • Prepare & implement site documentation and contract plans
  • Liaise with the Contracts Manager & Commercial Manager at all stages of the tender & contract works. Analyse, maximise and evaluate contract performance and prepare weekly / monthly progress reports
  • Monitor cost against budget, identify progress of works against programme & liaise with Project Manager and Commercial team to enable financial recovery
  • Provide technical support and advice to Site Management teams
  • Work closely with project teams ensuring understanding of drawings & technical specifications

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Civil Engineering Construction project work (at least 7 years) – Essential
  • Management of multiple work sites – Essential
  • Working within a railway environment – Essential
  • Civils background – Essential
  • Earthworks experience – Desirable

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Suitably qualified by experience
  • Railway Safety Training (PTS) – Essential
  • Degree, HNC/D in Civil Engineering - Desirable
  • SMSTS
