Project Manager / Engineer in North of England, United Kingdom

Yellow Rail has an opportunity for an experience Rolling Stock Project Manager / Engineer to work with one of our customers on an exciting, innovative and complex rolling stock modification project.

Based in the North of England this is a role which requires demonstrable project management skills with a strong engineering capability.

The purpose of the role is to help our customer ensure that it has a robust Modification Project Plan ready in time for the delivery of the Units to and from our Suppliers undertaking the work on the fleet including the scope of works required to support project enhancements and their inward unit cascade.

This requires management of a programme of coordinated works through a number of discrete projects including technical specifications, supply chain management and schedules of finishes in line with their Engineering Change process. The programme budget and reporting process will be required to be adhered to therefore insuring compliance with our Governance structure.

The role has authority to make decisions in consultation with the Engineering Team on the programme of works and contingency arrangements.

DIMENSIONS OF THE JOB

To deliver the programme of works and contingency projects as required, interfacing with the Engineering Team, Operational Teams, IS Team, and Transformation Support Team

Flexibility to travel around our customers Depots and their Suppliers to deliver the programme

Key Contacts include the Engineering Team / Transformation Support Team / Stakeholders and Suppliers / Operations Team / Suppliers

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES – PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Manage an overarching programme to deliver the modified units to our customer

Manage discrete technical and supply chain projects to enable the delivery, commissioning, testing and acceptance of the modified units to the required quality, on time and within budget

Identify and manage contingency plans as required

Identify requirements to ensure that the modified units are delivered to support the servicing and stabling of trains through engagement with other Engineering team members. A key process here is compliance with the Engineering Change SMS process.

Complete regular reports for the Transformation Support Team and Engineering Director as required.

Liaise with internal and external suppliers and customers as required by each project

Any other duties required that are appropriate to the post

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience of working within the Railway operating environment

Rolling Stock and Depot facilities knowledge

Project Management skills

Commercial acumen and negotiation skills

Engineering knowledge to a high level
