Project Manager - Surveys (GI, Intrusive Structural and Ecological Surveys)
A Project Manager is required to manage the surveys (GI, Intrusive Structural and Ecological) for a large rail project in the Midlands. Initially for 6 months, there is high probability of extension.
You will:
- Own the scope of work for the surveys across the project as they are identified as being required by the engineering, design or environmental teams
- Ensure the scope of work is defined adequately by the engineering, design or environmental teams
- Ensure a plan is in place for methodology and sequencing of the site work with provision of sufficient competent resources/sub-contractors for overall delivery
- Create and maintain programmes to meet project requirements, including sub contractor programs
- Manage the procurement process to ensure the survey work is procured on time and delivers value for money
- Ensure the appropriate work package plans and task briefs are prepared, including those by the sub-contractors, and they are submitted and approved before the work starts
- Agree and implement project controls deliverable and program management processes with the sub-contractor and with the support of the project controls team
- Facilitate and chair kick off and regular sub contract progress meetings
- Commercial management of the sub-contractors including preparation of estimates, management of budgets and review and payment of invoices, with the support of the procurement, estimating and commercial teams
- Identify and address blockers to progress
- Resolve emerging scope issues and technical queries within agreed timescales
- communicate and support targets for safety, time, quality, responsible procurement, sustainable delivery and support collaborative behaviours at all levels
- Address interface issues between adjacent contracts and assisting with stakeholder issues associated with the work
- Ensure technical solutions and temporary works adopted are safe and effective
- Ensure site work is delivered safely, to the required quality to time and budget
- Responsible for the quality and health, safety and environmental performance, with the support of the engineering, design and environmental teams
- Arrange, and deliver where required, inductions of all site staff
