Project Manager - Highways in East Sussex, United Kingdom
East Sussex, United Kingdom |
£30 per hour |
Contract
Role: Project Manager - Highways
Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months initial
Rate: £30/hour
Location: East Sussex
I am looking to place a project manager in a partnership scheme between East Sussex Highways and multiple international engineering consultancys in East Sussex. The scheme covers some 2,000 miles of highways maintenance, management, improvement schemes and services in East Sussex, which you will be an integral part of.
You will manage highways design and maintenance projects under the guidance of a Design Delivery Manager, ensuring that all projects comply with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations whilst promoting HSE standards to other staff. You will have a range of targets with regards to managing time, cost and quality controls and you will take ownership, ensuring that projects are completed to an agreed standard.
East Sussex uses a variation of a residents satisfaction survey, and you will, in part, be responsible for attempting to improve satisfaction ratings across a range of areas such as planned roadworks, highway structures, potholes and pavements. This will be an ongoing measure that you will contribute to improving over time.
Ideally, you will have relevant education in Project Management or Civil Engineering, alongside relevant qualifications within Project Management (PMP / APMP / PRINCE2). Most important is relevant industry experience covering highways maintenance and management projects and being able to work in a complex matrix environment with multiple stakeholders. Preferably, you will have knowledge of relevant project planning software, though this is not a core requirement.
In return, the role will offer you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the county of East Sussex and its residents, as well as offering you the chance to work on large-scale deliverables in a complex environment. The partnership between the consultancies and East Sussex is set for the next 6 years so there is also an element of security and opportunity for a long-term engagement.
