Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting for two Project Managers who will have the ability to provide comprehensive and consultative advice on complex multidisciplinary projects in the rail infrastructure environment, from cradle to grave.

The Opportunity

Our client assist developers, TOC’s and Government Bodies create and mould visionary strategies, manage and achieve project delivery goals and develop rail schemes.

The main purpose of the role is to act as the main responsibility for the delivery of rail projects and take hold of a project portfolio that will include large, medium and smaller projects allowing the successful candidates to gain an opportunity to have a mix of work.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will work with, and draw on the resources of multi-disciplinary teams within the Company and from 3rd parties, whilst maintaining excellent relationships with stakeholders and clients.

  • To act as the main client contact on all project activities and processes.
  • Continuously develop and monitor client relationships.
  • Be responsible for delivering projects on time and within budgetary constraints.
  • Be proactive in risk management, ensuring potential obstacles are ideally avoided.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Continuously update project plans for HSQE purposes.
  • Ensure projects comply with the relevant rail regulations.
  • Work closely with other members of the team to ensure effective delivery.
  • Work closely with suppliers and contractors and maintain relationships to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Review project costs regularly.
  • Be involved with review meetings with clients, contractors etc.
  • Keep H&S documentation up to date.

Experience and Requirements

Essentials

  • Minimum of a HNC qualification.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • 3-5 years+ working in the rail sector.
  • Experience of working in a project management environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering projects to agreed timescales.
  • Preparation of documentation relevant to project management.
  • Budget management.
  • Experience of managing projects in one or more of the following…new stations, footbridges, car parks, freight depots, gantries, civils/structures or permanent way/track projects.
  • The ability to think outside the box and make decisions promptly and with confidence.
  • Strong ability to communicate at all levels.

Desirable

  • Relevant technical degree or Chartered Status.
  • APM/PMI/PRINCE2 Qualification.
  • Procurement/purchasing experience.
  • Knowledge of Local Authority processes.
  • The ability to motivate a team.
  • Working knowledge of GRIP stages.
