Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are working with one of UK based rail clients who are a provider of software products for railway operations and signalling.
We are looking for a Project Manager who will join the business to ensure the smooth day to day running of all allocated projects.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the main responsibilities of the role holder include, but shall not be limited to:
- Represent our client on customer project review meetings
- Work with customers to ensure timely and cost effective execution of projects, to meet commercial objectives and to develop their relationship with our client
- Ensure that resource requirements are identified and reported to the Operations Manager / Resource Manager in a timely manner
- Compile timely project financial and progress reports as required
- Timely resolution of audit findings
- Frequent liaison with the Sales and Marketing Team to ensure the smooth handover of projects
- Provide leadership for project teams throughout the project life cycle, from conception through delivery to support
- Provide input and / or approval to support costing and pricing for sales proposals
- Assess and authorise product release ensuring compliance with requirements and readiness for delivery
- Ensure compliance of projects to the relevant quality, health & safety and environmental standards and our clients BMS
- Work with the Quality Manager in the implementation and maintenance of our clients Business Management System (BMS)
- Supporting continuous improvement to project management and production processes
- Identification and effective mitigation of project risk
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Good knowledge of using PC tools especially Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Project
- Willingness to learn and gain knowledge of our clients processes, products, features and benefits
- Excellent project management skills particularly in developing / maintaining effective working relationships, risk management, plans and budgets
- Experience of working within highly regulated industries, ideally rail, although candidates with experience in similar industries such as oil and gas or aerospace will be considered
Desirable
- Understanding of signalling design principles
- Understanding of railway traffic operation, particularly signalling control centres
- Understanding of signalling control system design, and especially data structures associated with SSI, IECC, MCS and ARS
- IRSE Licence of the appropriate category for current product line
