Our Client, who is a major Design and Engineering firm, is looking for a Senior Project Manager with Design experience for a very exciting permanent opportunity. You will work within a multidisciplinary team delivering a portfolio of exciting, varied Rail projects as part of an established and expanding Rail Business. This is a real opportunity for you to develop your personal skills, especially in relation to increasing Design Project Management expertise. Reporting to your Project Management Team Leader you will work with project teams of Railway and infrastructure engineers at bid and project stage, supporting the Bid / Project Director. What we need from you:

We are looking for a passionate, commercially aware Design Project Manager with sound technical knowledge to be an integral part of our York and Manchester Rail teams. Ensuring the successful delivery of technically excellent multidisciplinary rail projects and bids across my Clients UK portfolio, you will be responsible for, and typical activities will include:

• Acting as the key contact with the Client for design project delivery and managing client expectations.
• Fostering creativity and innovation working with a multidisciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality and technical excellence.
• Ensuring the design compliance with Quality Management systems, including project plans, schedules and risk registers.
• Ensuring that the Design teams coordinate.
• Provide high quality project design and project control management skills and knowledge of rail engineering, within an environment of high quality and timeliness.
• You will have the freedom to work independently, responsible for your own project portfolio and supported in the management of your own personal development utilising our in house and external training opportunities.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience in the the design process of a multidisciplinary design team especially as the lead designer, coordinating communication and flow of information between all project team members
• Facilitation of Client and stakeholder meetings.
• Competent in the proactive management of change
• Competent in establishing and monitoring the design scope, schedule and resource plan for the design team, including the facilitation and tracking the resolution of decisions

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience in the use of project management software (e.g. Primervera Project Planner)
• Competent dealing with Document and Project Management IT Systems (e.g. 4Projects, Aconex

Qualifications

• Appropriate engineering degree, HND or higher qualification
• Ideally, an associate member of the ICE / APM or similar
• Working toward Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE / APM or similar
