Who we are
voestalpine VAE UK manufactures and supplies switches & crossings as well as other materials and services for Network Rail infrastructure, tramway, and light railway systems in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland. voestalpine VAE UK Limited operates two sites: one in Edinburgh, Scotland and one in Nottinghamshire, England. This position is located in Harworth, close to Doncaster.
Your Tasks
You will serve as information hub for all departments and coordinate their respective tasks within the project brief. You will actively seek information from the customer to meet customer expectations. As a Project Manager you will also have a sound knowledge of safety procedures and be commercially astute.
You will also provide training and support to staff whilst developing standards within the team. The principal functions of this position are:
- Develop and manage the projects.
- Monitor resources availability to deliver projects on time at all times.
- Establish and lead effective working arrangements with multiple internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on the development of projects.
- Improve communication mechanisms between the customer and project stakeholders.
- Maintain all necessary reporting requirements to agreed project management procedures.
Project manager focuses on customer needs yet simultaneously supports various departments, suppliers and customers with information exchange so that all tasks can be executed in time to meet all project requirements. The essential task of this role is to produce accurate project management plan and actively seek improvement opportunities while monitoring and controlling the execution of the project plan. Attention to detail and proactive approach in seeking solutions are prerequisites for this position, where daily tasks include:
- Establish various ways of effective communication with project stake holders.
- Engage in risk management, negotiation and lead the team to meet project objectives.
- Monitor, document, action and control all relevant project contracts and variations.
- Support project stakeholders to deliver projects within budgets and key milestones.
- Set and control cost, quality and safety targets in line with project plans.
Your Profile
The candidate should have hands on approach to problem solving with "can do" attitude. The following skills and experiences will assure success in this position:
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
- Minimum five year experience in delivering projects within a rail environment;
- Commercial awareness with basic cost accounting and contract management knowledge;
- Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Post graduate with additional training in Lean and Six Sigma;
- Proven leadership within change management and organizational development projects;
- Proficiency in interpreting 1:50 drawings;
- Expert level knowledge of different project Management tools: MS Project Manager, MS Visio, as well as production planning within SAP;
- Intermediate expertise in MS Office package;
- Ability to multi-task and meet the deadlines;
- Methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
