Project Manager
Location: Manchester
Purpose of the role
To lead and manage the CEFA Route Earthworks Team in the efficient and effective provision of programme delivery and compliance with the CEFA Earthworks examination technical specification to support the delivery of the CEFA project.
About the role
- Ensure that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and Safety
- Undertake on-site management and on-call duties as Duty Manager
- Provide cover in capacity of CRE for sign off in readiness for jobs as they happen
- Ensure that the Earthworks programme is delivered to time, budget and specification, updating the National OPI & Earthworks Manager with all route progress information as required
- Undertake the task of reviewing examination reports
- Work closely with the Programme Manager(s) to ensure that programming and planning of the Earthworks examination is done in accordance with project requirements
- Review and authorise the baseline programme throughout the Planning & Robustness process
- Ensure that work is planned to optimise the use of available resources and that Network Rail receive technically compliant reports in accordance with contract deadlines
- Maintain regular liaison with all key stakeholders on project progress, conducting regular reviews with Network Rail and your team
- Manage commercial performance, maximising income and margin wherever possible and ensure that lost-time and/or abortive costs are identified and recovered
- Ensure that all earthworks staff are fully trained, hold the correct track safety and other appropriate safety competences for their role and ensure these are maintained or updated
What we are looking for
- Masters/Degree level qualification in a Geology based discipline
- Proven track record in the technical and operational related aspects of earthworks contracts, in a senior geotechnical capacity.
- Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Knowledge and understanding of the technical specification and standards that drive the CEFA requirement
- Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
- Driving licence
About CEFA
Amey undertake Structural Examinations, Structural Assessments, Operational Property Inspections, Earthworks Examinations, Technical Monitoring and provide Rapid Response services for Network Rail in several routes throughout the United Kingdom. Civil Examination Framework Agreement (CEFA) team includes over 200 Structures Examiners working on behalf of Network Rail to assess over 70,000 structures across the UK.
Amey has worked continuously with Network Rail delivering aspects of the CEFA contracts since 2009, taking responsibility for the asset management and examination of different assets during this time. Since 2009, on the CEFA contract, Amey has achieved a 58 per cent reduction in its normalised carbon footprint.
