Project Planner in Derbyshire, Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Due to rapid expansion of their business within the UK and internationally my client requires a Security Cleared Project Planner to join a growing Planning & Project Controls team for a defence project.
As an integral part of the team you will be responsible for guiding and influencing staff, both inside and outside the Planning team, in order to implement planning working practices appropriate to a programme in line with industry and company standards.
You must have Defence sector experience and hold valid Security Clearance to be considered.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Build, optimise and implement planning and programmes (including resources, outages, consents and way leaves) in conjunction with interested parties to deliver the work
- When necessary produce detailed trackers to be used to collect and report progress made on a weekly/monthly basis
- Develop a deep understanding of contracts such as the NEC ECC3 and its requirements
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Project QS to maximise the potential of each project, attend site meetings when necessary to discuss progress and update the project plan together with reporting back on any knock-on effects to the business unit
- Represent the business at client meetings
- Work with the Planning Manager to ensure that the planning function interfaces effectively with the other departments
- Support programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, and planning best practices
- Gather benchmarking information to aid the Value For Money (VFM) assessment on each project
- In conjunction with the Risk Manager and Project Manager, input into the risk, issue and opportunity register for assigned projects
- Monitor and control programme compliance in respect of our contractual obligations
Knowledge / Skills / Behaviours:
- Ideally have more than 3 years experience of creating large and/or complex schedules for start-up programmes/projects
- Identifying and maintaining complex dependencies within programme/project schedules
- Integration of master schedule to programme/project schedules
- Rollup of cross-project resources to consolidated resource plans
- Troubleshooting of problems resulting from schedule content or planning tool limitations
- Ideally have demonstrable experience of using Earned Value Management Systems
- Advanced Primavera (P6) skills and/or have demonstrable skills in the use of other planning tools such as MS Project
- Presentation, facilitation, communication and influencing skills
- Motivated, well organised and methodical
- Stakeholder management experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
- HND/Degree level education in a Business/Finance/Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Earned Value Foundation (APMG)
- APM Introductory Certificate
- Ideally APMP or working towards APMP
