Racon resource are working in partnership with Loram UK - an established business based in Derby, who specialise in engineering and re-engineering works on railway traction and rolling stock. Loram offer a full range of rolling stock engineering solutions, from train servicing through to routine fleet maintenance to various engineering projects. The business employs a highly experienced rail operations team that is responsible for delivering customer trains on time and safely, onto the national network.

Due to company expansion they have undergone a restructure and Racon Resource are looking to recruit a number of key appointments into their mid and senior Management team. This is an excellent time to join this growing business.

We have an opporutunity for a Project Planner to join the team. Responsible for ensuring that the duties allocated to the role by the Company project management manual are undertaken in accordance with the manual’s guidance, in particular, that project plans and reports are produced, maintained and managed throughout the lifecycle of projects.

The Project Planner provides data to help measure project performance therefore assisting senior management in taking decisive action as required.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop and maintain all project plans in M.S. Project and other software tools as suitable.
• Produce reports in and from M.S. Project, Excel or other software tools as required.
• Support project planning activities, in particular Company tendering activities by producing project plans for submission with tenders.
• Resource loading of project plans.
• Facilitating, leading and managing planning workshops and meetings with and for other team members so as to develop their ideas and information into coherent project plans.
• Support delivery of projects.
• Working as a project team member to update project plans to reflect the current status of projects as given by production team members and engineers.
• Develop corrective action plans in support of the project manager for projects which are exhibiting signs of slippage against the plan.
• Support internal finance, project governance, resource planning and project management processes.
• Production of reports to support project managers, resource planners, financial controllers and the senior management team in making decisions and to understand the health of projects and the projects portfolio as a whole.
• Work with production staff, resource managers and engineers to iteratively update and develop plans which reflect project plan parameters such as resource availability and work methodology options etc.
• Analyse and review live project progress against planned, so as to identify issues early and develop and implement corrective action plans.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to improve safety and quality and reduce cost and cycle time.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University Graduate/A Levels preferred
• GCSE English and Maths essential
• At least 3 - 5 years’ experience using M.S. Project essential
• Minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience working in a Projects environment with P6 experienced preferred
• Experience in the rail industry/rolling stock refurbishment background preferred - if not then ideally a production background
