My client looking for a passionate, commercially aware Rail Design Project Manager with sound technical knowledge to be an integral part of their Derby design team. The successful candidate needs to be highly motivated and have a desire to tackle interesting problems with the opportunity of finding innovative solutions. The main discipline within this design office is Over Head Line Electrification.

The role involve the following:

• Acting as the key contact with the Client for design project delivery and managing client expectations.
• Assessing Client needs, identify relevant connections with my client's capabilities and be able to make sound decisions and propose the right design solution.
• Fostering creativity and innovation working with a multidisciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality and technical excellence.
• Ensuring the design compliance with Quality Management systems, including project plans, schedules and risk registers.
• Ensuring that the Design teams coordinate.
• Understanding the Client's goals and aspirations and maintain them as a reference point throughout the project.
• Provide high quality project design and project control management skills and knowledge of rail engineering, within an environment of high quality and timeliness.
• Communicating project progress with the project team.
• Capturing and sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation across our business, providing guidance, training and feedback with other related disciplines and skills, locally and across the UK.

Essential Requirements, Skills and Knowledge

• Experience in the the design process of a multidisciplinary design team, with OLE of preference
• Facilitation of Client and stakeholder meetings.
• Competent in the proactive management of change
• Competent in establishing and monitoring the design scope, schedule and resource plan for the design team, including the facilitation and tracking the resolution of decisions
• Competent in the production of project management reports, dashboards, schedules.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

• Experience in the use of project management software (e.g. Primervera Project Planner)
• Competent dealing with Document and Project Management IT Systems (e.g. 4Projects, Aconex)

Qualifications

• Appropriate engineering degree, HND or higher qualification
