A UK based Rail related engineering main contractor, who is heavily engaged in a large scale / high value UK Rail infrastructure development and enhancement scheme, have an excellent opportunity for a focused and career committed Scheme Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager ideally with a career emphasis towards Project management and a genuine passion / interest within UK Rail Engineering.
This very long term contractual opportunity to work on a massively major Rail development programme will be a fulfilling and rewording one. The programme our client is engaged with will offer plenty of exposure, responsibility and learning and progression opportunities to the right Scheme Project Manager.
The clients programme is very lengthy and holds a massive budget for varied diverse deliveries based in the North.
Key responsibilities for the role
The appointed Scheme Project Manager be working closely and supporting the Project Programme Manager. You will be accountable for understanding, overseeing and assisting in the direction of design to delivery, project planning requirements, document control, change management and importantly strong competency in relation to Health and safety.
Being expected to represent the Project Manager on occasions, you will need to attend varied project progress and development meetings, liaise with key stakeholders, clients and sub-contractors alike and work with design and commercial departments and local authorities as required by the project programme.
The appointed Scheme Project Manager will possess the following;
- Strong working experience and appreciation of NWR GRIP stages, concentrating from GRIP 3-8
- Good working appreciation of technical drawings, engineering designs, survey requirements, reporting and scoping, with the ability to work closely with Designers, Engineers and on-site Delivery teams
- Experience and competent with interfacing and liaising closely with Clients, Key-Stakeholders, Sub-contractors, Delivery Partners and Local Authorities
- Proven confidence within man-management, sub-contractor control and conducting or reviewing set requirements plan and milestones as well as effective progress monitoring, quality checking and reporting experience
- Have a strong working knowledge and personal appreciation of CDM regulations and HSQE within a large scale multi-discipline development programme and credible requirements Planning abilities
- Will ideally hold a minimum of HNC (or equivalent) within a Civil engineering/ development remit
- Ideally you will also hold or be working towards a Project Management (APM) qualification such as Prince 2 or equivalent.
You might already hold a valid PTS and have or will at least have construction development competencies, such as; SMSTS, SSSTS or CSCS etc.
You will be commercially aware, a driver of delivery to meet time quality and budgetary constraints as well as being a strong Project management support, keen to embrace learning and be in front to develop and progress.
Within this role you the appointed Scheme Project manager be a will be a strong and trusted support to a Snr Project Manager, you will be analytical and methodical and someone who is organised and disciplined. You will be focused on delivery, will like to think outside the box and look at the bigger picture, keen to offer credible suggestions for effective delivery and or change management.
You will be carrying a positive attitude, being eager to take on new and additional tasks which will bolster your learning and development within UK Rail as a contractor!
This contractual position is to start ASAP for a long term requirements!! Our client is looking to offer a very completive per day rate for the right level of knowledge, experience, abilities and above all drive!
