Client Summary:

My client is a global engineering organisation currently seeking a Project Engineer to join their team in Derby. From their Derby base, they design and manufacture complex vehicles for use within the passenger transport industry. With locations across the globe this is a truly international organisation that is seen as a market leader in their sector.

Position Summary:

This role requires an experienced project engineer to work on various modification, and refurbishment projects on rolling stock. You will be following projects through the whole lifecycle from estimation to delivery.

This position will require a strong engineering background and experience in working on both mechanical and electrical aspects of vehicle manufacturing/development. You will be involved in getting project updates from the various stakeholders and assess this against any plans in place. You will also be acting as the final authority/sign-off on designs and any documentation.

Whilst there would be no staff directly reporting into this position, you would be responsible for managing project teams in order to get the work completed on time and on budget. You will also be managing parts processing with an off-shore team.

In order to help your understanding of the projects, you may be required to become more 'hands-on' at times and would be required to travel to London based depots around 2 days a week.

Person Profile/Experience:

*10 years + Project Engineering Experience
*Rolling stock experience would be desirable but no essential
*Experience of engineering in a vehicle based manufacturing environment
*4 years + leadership/managerial experience
*Excellent communication skills
*Happy/able to travel to depots during the week
*Strong engineering background covering both mechanical and electrical aspects
*Ability to think quickly and practical problem solving skills
*Have a strong character and able to work under pressure

Qualifications:

Degree in an engineer discipline or chartered status desirable
