About The Role
Due to continuous growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team in the capacity of a Senior Project Engineer (Telecoms). The successful candidate will be based out of Sheffield and York offices.
Our Telecoms and E&P group have a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on numerous regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK.
The successful candidate will ensure the successful and safe delivery of Project deliverables, acting as lead point of contact for all engineering functions. You will be responsible for leading and co-ordinating the engineering functions within the Project team against Project Plan throughout the project life cycle. You will effectively identify all project specific requirements and ensure all appropriate documentation has been provided to the relevant teams.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will actively support and encourage the creativity and innovation within the engineering team, whilst supporting and mentoring junior members of the engineering team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following:
- Liaising with Project Manager/ Client to ascertain project requirements and understand project remit.
- Undertaking the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer/ Temporary Works Co-Ordinator on both single/ multidiscipline projects in accordance with ATW and standards.
- Ensuring site diaries are collated and all issues are reported/ recorded. Carrying out regular reviews of Project Issue Log with Project Management Team.
- Identifying Project Risks/ Hazards and producing the relevant Risk Assessments to ensure adequate control measures are in place.
- Supervising the briefing of project documentation to project team, subcontractors and stakeholders as identified and ensure project specific site inductions are undertaken.
- Managing the engineering team to ensure isolation, possession and safe work plans have been identified and booked in a timely manner.
- Ensuring any project specific requirements such as disconnections, permits and access requirements are submitted and managed in accordance with project timescales.
- Ensuring the procurement of project materials are within budget and handed over to site delivery teams as per project timescales.
- Understanding project remit with ability to identify scope changes and managed through the change control process.
- Assisting the management team in identifying training needs and participating where required.
- Supporting the bids team in the preparation of technical, cost and programme information to support projects/bids.
- Undertaking regular review of standards, regulation, legislation and processes (internal/ external) and ensuring their implementation
- Participating at readiness checks to ensure that engineering activities are planned thoroughly in a safe and effective manner.
- Undertaking safety and quality inspections as required
- Supporting specific business initiatives as required.
- Assisting the Engineering team with Internal/ External audits.
- Ensuring that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards.
- Maintaining engineering log book and CPD
- Complying to all business related GDPR process.

Essential Attributes & Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work as team member with organisational and time management skills.
- IT literate – Microsoft Office including CAD software such as AutoCAD, Visio, Microstation J.
- Thorough knowledge of aspects of project engineering as applied to appropriate railway discipline (Telecoms).
- Understanding and appreciation of the CDM Regulations.
- Ability to act as lead project engineer on single/ multidiscipline schemes.
- Good Commercial Awareness/ Programme Management Skills
- Professionally accredited / Working towards accreditation in an appropriate discipline.
- Driving license
Desirable Attributes & Skills
- Incorporated Engineer/ Engineering Technician
- HNC / ONC level
- 5-8 years’ experience in project engineering (Telecoms)

Monday to Friday, Office based position.
