Job Title: Senior Project Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Rate: £475/day

Duration: 6 months contract

Short description:

To lead and manage the use of appropriate engineering standards in relation to design and construction, on all projects within the national programme so they comply with legislation, Railway Group and our clients company standards.To monitor whether suitably qualified and experienced staff are employed to control engineering aspects of all projects within the functional discipline. Significant experience in managing teams.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Manager requirements:

• Experience of being a DPE
• Experience on multi-disciplinary projects; Structures, Earthworks, Drainage, Stations Infrastructure including platforms & buildings
• Chartered Engineer
• Team management experience
• CSM experience
• Significant Design/Construction experience

Essential

• Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas
• Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent
• Membership of a relevant professional institution
• Experience of contracting
• Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects
• Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance
• Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works
• Accident investigation experience

Additionally Required

• CSM risk evaluation and assessment
• CEng Chartered Engineer - Civil (MICE) or Structural Engineering (MIStructE)
• Detailed Knowledge of Earthworks and Earth retaining structure design and Construction, Bridge design and construction and Station Infrastructure design & construction
• Knowledge of railway infrastructure and interdependencies of asset types
• Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works
