The SPM role is to lead and manage the day to day operations across the project. This project is safety critical in nature and involves a significant portion of our clients engineering team along with multiple external sub-contractors. The role is to be the main customer point of contact, and to drive the multi-disciplinary team to achieve challenging delivery timescales, quality expectations and safety assurance. The role reports to the Head of Project Operations.
The domain knowledge required is defence electronics mainly.
Candidates wishing to apply should demonstrate:
- Experience of leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team on major (multi-million pound) projects, providing instruction and direction.
- Experience of management of external sub-contractors within a major project.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Track record of successful project delivery in a customer facing environment.
- Experience at building, developing and growing business relationships with external stakeholders vital to the success of the project and business.
- Excellence in the use of relevant IT including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment focused on delivering to tight deadlines.
- Project and risk management skills and knowledge.
- Strong project financial background, ideally with prior experience of EVM.
- Sound business judgement.
- Technical appreciation of complex problems.
- Reasonable management experience, covering financial, commercial, engineering and project areas.
- Availability to travel throughout the UK and Worldwide as and when required.

Previous Experience (Essential):
10 years experience in managing design & development and production projects and programmes in the defence/aerospace sector with values of £5M or more. Experienced in the delivery of projects with a significant portion of sub-contracting.
Desirable: Experience of Safety Critical projects; RF; electronics.
