Senior Project Manager - Fleet/ Rolling Stock in London, London, United Kingdom
To lead and provide successful management of projects/programmes to time/budget/quality to meet the needs of Renewals and Enhancements - Fleet department
Key Accountabilities
• Leads and manages the delivery of a group of smaller projects or a large project affecting a significant part of the organisation with significant complexity, usually involving complex stakeholder management and external partners
• Establishes and manages a highly motivated direct/indirect project management team/ multiple project teams, including internal TfL staff, agency and contract workers in order to ensure successful delivery of project objectives, role model TfL behaviours.
• Ensures that the project deliverables and outcomes are aligned to relevant business strategy and needs for the group of assigned projects
• Undertakes detailed resource planning to ensure that the resource requirements for projects are communicated and agreed by relevant stakeholders, to secure required resources
• As a Project Manager, ensure delivery of project and programmes to meet the agreed objectives, in line with TfL quality standards and TfL Project Management methodology (Pathway), including adherence to all processes and procedures, governance requirements and communication standards
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the project Sponsor, end user(s), and suppliers’ and contractors’ project management teams as appropriate to facilitate the smooth running of the project and ensure alignment of interests
• Within agreed authority levels, negotiate, procure and authorise all major project contracts and variations with a focus on win: win agreements and approve spend to agreed limits
•Demonstrable leadership in equality of opportunity, social inclusion, fair employment and environmental sustainability, creating open, inclusive and engaging environments within teams and across stakeholders, customers and supply chain.
•Accountable for driving and leading a positive safety culture within the directorate, ensuring team is invested in managing and improving HSE performance.
Skills, knowledge and Experience
Knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of contractual issues in a project environment
Knowledge and understanding of legal aspects, financial control and procurement processes and techniques
Knowledge and understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques
Degree or equivalent in e.g. business or engineering (desirable)
Awareness of safety issues in a transport environment (desirable)
Experience
Experience of working on fleet projects
Experience of working in a complex, multi-disciplinary, matrix-management environment
Proven record of taking personal responsibility and accountability for delivery of projects up to £100m in value in a large complex organisation, delivering to time, quality and budget
Experience of managing performance and delivery through external contractors/suppliers
Experience of managing high performing teams/resources through the effective management, development and empowerment of staff
