Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Senior Project Manager with exceptional stakeholder management skills for Glasgow based train operating company.

The Opportunity

SPT is currently delivering a £300m Subway Modernisation Programme to improve the customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations. There has never been a more exciting time to join our projects team as we work to successfully deliver Subway Modernisation to the satisfaction of our customers and stakeholders.

As we move into the implementation phase of modernisation; working to deliver new trains, signalling and control systems to enable a step change in the operation of the Subway, we are seeking to recruit an experienced project professional to lead on the delivery of the various elements of our new fully automated system including new rolling stock, signalling, control and communication systems and platform screen doors.

Offering the unique opportunity to be part of a UK first - the introduction of Unattended Train Operation (UTO) to a live 'brownfield' site - you will be responsible for the management of the delivery of the integrated system and working closely with our joint venture contractor Ansaldo/Stadler to achieve the overall project aims. Your experience of working with regulatory bodies and to exacting safety and technical standards will be used as you work with our operations, engineering and maintenance teams to secure ORR authorisation and certification for the new UTO system.

Supporting the Head of Project Delivery in the delivery of the programme, you will be responsible for managing the major multi-million pound contract as well as supporting technical advisors and internal project managers. You will ensure that each element is delivered in accordance with SPT's contract specifications and standards and that resources and skills are deployed to ensure effective delivery and asset acceptance phases. The role will require foreign travel for various project inspections, meetings and assurance/sign off visits.

The Candidate

If you enjoy working in and leading a multi-disciplinary team, engaging directly with a range of internal and external stakeholders on complex, integrated engineering/technical projects then this could be the right opportunity for you. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced senior project manager/project director, used to managing multi-million pound budgets (over £100m) within a live operational environment. Your in-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, excellent influencing skills and experience of working with technical advisers and regulatory bodies will enable you to successfully drive forwards the next phases of the project.
