The role will involve:
- Leading allocated tasks effectively, through planning, allocation and reporting of work in order to ensure successful delivery of the project/ plan.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and the achievement of the Project’s objectives.
- Maintain accountability for the cost, schedule and technical performance of the programme. Anticipate and manage dependencies, risk and opportunities in support of increase business performance.
- Attend client consultative meetings and site visits where required, ensuring that best practices and industry innovation is applied.
- Production and issuing customer progress reports
- Review and approve key supplier inputs.
- Monitor and control of all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborating and engage with other departments within the business where relevant.
- Prepare and maintain contract risk and opportunity plans and manage the associated contingency budgets.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with the customer and other external stakeholders.
- Ensure all employees, including suppliers have the appropriate rail/safety clearance to undertake activities at the customer facilities.
Skills & Experience:
- Project Management qualifications such as APMP or Prince 2.
- Experience of project and risk management.
- Ability to analyse schedule, cost data for impending difficulties, and clearly communicate to the Project Manager/Operations Manager.
- Management experience covering financial, commercial, engineering and project areas within the rail sector.
- Knowledge of NEC 3 contract management.
- Experience working within an engineering environment review and interpret technical information / engineering drawings.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills both written & oral.
- Experience of working within strict deadlines & to budget.
- Understand schedule interfaces & dependencies to produce various key milestones to be submitted for acceptance.
- Desirable - Experience working in proposals and experience in engineering or construction related roles preferable.
- Desirable - HNC/ HND / Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in rail and industrial control systems.
