Mane are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to work on a 8 month contract between Southampton and Portsmouth.
Key responsibilities of a Health & Safety Advisor;
Develop a full understanding of the project Health and Safety requirements based on the Clients specific site requirements, Statutory Regulations and our clients Health and Safety policies and communicate to the Site team, internal and external parties involved in any phase of the project.
Ensure a thorough understanding of the Health and Safety procedures are fully understood and adhered to by all members of the Project team.
Implement and maintain all Health and Safety systems required.
Implement, process and suggest training to drive Zero accidents and incidents throughout the life of the project. Support the project team in achieving compliance with the Clients requirements.
Updating of Health and Safety plan for the site.
Collate Method Statements and Risk Assessments in line with the project and regulatory requirements. Implement and manage the incident reporting process ensuring full compliance by all project team members.
Review all H&S plans and processes with the client to ensure alignment and harmonization of best practice and procedure. Provide regular reports to the Health and Safety and Project Managers
Demonstrate compliance with our clients internal Quality Procedures and the Clients Quality assurance. To act as a focal point for the project regarding health, safety and environment.
To ensure that all health & safety aims and objectives are a focal point when planning work activities throughout this project; To ensure all employees are aware of and have knowledge of their health and safety responsibilities.
To ensure the all project personnel carry out their undertaking in accordance with Health and Safety Plan;
To enforce safe working procedures, assist and oversee the correct formatting and content of contractor's risk assessments/method statements including specific hazards associated with this project, Emergency Procedures and Asbestos
To ensure that all site operatives are suitably trained and experienced for works being carried out.
To promote near miss and Hazards Removed reporting and ensure that all operatives on site take responsibility for their safety. To report to the Project and HSE Manager any deficiencies on site, by way of inspection report or during safety meetings;
To immediately investigate any withdrawal from works due to their being a risk of imminent danger;
To ensure that serious accidents occurring on any sites are reported accordingly, fully investigated, and controls implemented to prevent re-occurrence;
Key attributes of the Health & Safety Advisor;
Proven ability to implement and maintain full Health and Safety reporting and monitoring processes Ability to interpret client's criteria and produce fully compliant documentation and reporting tools
Good organisational skills, experience of working within operations teams, able to plan ahead and communicate well with the team, suppliers and customers.
Worked on a construction site for a principal contractor.
Understands the CDM Regulations.
Able to provide an advisory safety role to operatives and site management.
Qualifications.
NEBOSH Certificate Level in Occupational Health & Safety 'or'
Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety,
IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities (or NEBOSH equivalent),
Three day First Aid Certificate and CSCS Card or equivalent

Participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training
Good understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this post.
Develop and manage the H&S/CDM file as required and in conjunction with the CDMA, Principal Designer and site manager.
Implement Tool Box talk process incorporating Siemens and the Clients H&S Policies and Procedures.
