Ford and Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Quality Assurance Engineer / Auditor to join a leading railway engineering company who complete rolling stock repair and overhaul work. We are searching for an experienced rail / rolling stock professional to join the business and make a big contribution to their Quality Engineering department.

The Opportunity

The role of Quality Engineer / Auditor is to identify areas of project and process risk from a quality perspective and identify and implement process controls. The team you will be joining are extremely strong, although there is now a requirement for someone with a strong rail background to join and be the 'go-to' person for all things rail / rolling stock.

This is a new role within the business and thus the successful candidate will be able to develop and shape it appropriately, alongside company objectives.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Host customer and 3rd party audits, acting as the company representative and providing all necessary information and support.
• Implement containment action and root cause investigation when internal and external non-conformance occurs, including the supply chain.
• Perform internal and external (i.e., suppliers) Quality System audits.
• Define the methods and equipment used to measure the key quality characteristics of a process.
• Assist Quality Controllers (Inspection) with First Article Inspection and in-process witness/hold points.
• Handling of day-to-day issues with product quality and the Quality Management System.
• Undertake Process Improvement (PI) activity, both internally and externally, to increase the overall effectiveness and efficiency of processes.

Candidates should be rail / rolling stock professionals together with experience gained within a Quality function/role is essential. You should be educated to apprenticeship or HNC / HND level. All suitable candidates will have knowledge of ISO9001 and internal auditing.
