Our leading Rail infrastructure client are currently working with has a new and exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the changing landscape of the rail industry, delivering substantial fast-paced improvement to modernise the railway. The alliance will be delivering on a new rail link between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Cambridge and potentially beyond.

As part of the wider plans for this strategically important corridor, it is one of the most high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK today. The new railway will improve local connectivity and serve as a catalyst for economic development and the creation of new housing, as well as significantly reducing existing journey times. In the 2017 Budget, it was announced that this alliance would be established to bring new drive and focus to the project.

The Secretary of State for Transport recently launched the company, highlighting its role to bring innovation, to deliver more quickly and cost-effectively than existing models, and to develop competition with Network Rail. The company is now scaling up significantly as it prepares to take on obligations relating to the delivery of the Western Section and Central Sections of the scheme, which will provide both innovative upgrades to existing track and to design then construct new infrastructure.

The Role:

The project is a £1.2 billion programme providing a strategic route linking key cities Oxford, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Bedford. The programme consists of a new station at Winslow, two new platforms at Bletchley, 18 new overbridges, 22 new footbridges or subways and changes to 97 railway crossings.

You will be able to put your stamp on one of the UK's major infrastructure projects and use the latest technology and techniques, using your quality management expertise to effectively manage and support internal and external professionals.

  • Supporting the Programme Quality Manager with updates to the IMS Document Register, Audit Programme, actions from audits and quality documentation.
  • Supporting and advising the Alliance Project Team and Alliance Management Team with requirements to deliver right first time.
  • Supporting delivery of the Audit Programme by either solo auditing or as part of a team.
  • Monitor and proactively manage close outs of audit findings.
  • Providing data for period reporting and Management Review.
  • Recording and monitoring close out of actions emanating from audits.
  • Training/coaching on quality related activities.
  • Support the project teams with development of ITPs and effective control of documented information.
  • Provide an on-site interface and support to project teams Technical Understanding: Knowledge of engineering environments, Highway, Rail, Civil Infrastructure or Construction projects would be well suited experience for this position.

  • Proven track record of operating in a complex construction project environment across multi-disciplinary areas.

  • Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (MCQI OR PCQI), Certified IRCA Lead Auditor or relevant professional body recognition.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of Quality management tools and techniques.

  • Demonstrates strong business/commercial approach and understanding of business needs.

  • Proven experience of working in partnership with senior business leaders in order to improve

quality management.

  • Ability to establish professional credibility quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence effectively with all levels of an organisation.

  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
