Assistant Quantity Surveyor in United Kingdom

Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our existing Signalling & Power department to support and assist in the commercial management of internal and external contracts from feasibility through to completion.
Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, key duties will include:
- Monitor, review, analyse and report on all contract costs for allocated projects
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations of contract performance on a contract by contract basis.
- Assist with the preparation of client applications for payment and associated reporting.
- Support the pricing of variation orders/change requests.
- Assist with the preparation of interim and final accounts.
- Assist with preparation of comparing actual costs against planned programme, report and investigate variances.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be self-motivated with a pro-active approach with experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines with a minimum level of supervision. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are required for this role.
The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- A measured and well organised approach to your work.
- Confident communication skills, both in writing and in internal and external correspondence
- A competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to challenges and problems.
- The ability to manage work to meet varying deadlines.
The successful candidate must have or be working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying. Whilst not essential, experience of working within the rail industry would be a distinct advantage. You will also be ambitious with a desire to develop yourself and the quantity surveying function.
