A principal contractor to Network Rail with a rapidly growing orderbook requires a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Essex.
Paramount to this role is a successful background within Rail or Rail / Civils contracting, coupled with the ability to mentor and lead others within the commercial team.

The Job
- Liaise and support Senior / Contracts Manager to align commercial and operational strategies
- Overview, management and support of Quantity Surveyors under training as appropriate.
- Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements, ensuring payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
- Prompt submission of estimate / tendering information to the client.
- Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
- Preparation and presentation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts work schedules and cash flows.
- Prompt presentation of weekly cost / value information, delivery schedules and associated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.
- Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
- Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc.
- Commercial support to the site and contracts management team and also the Estimating and Procurement teams.
- Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.
You
- Qualified to degree level and/or membership of the RICS (or equivalent)
- A background within a Rail contracting business or Civils specialist covering Bridges or Earthworks would be a distinct advantage.
