Crewit Resourcing are the dedicated recruitment partner to BCM Construction and we are looking to recruit a Commercial Manager to join our growing and ambitious company. This position will be based in our Waterloo office with site work also.

We are a Principal contractor to Network Rail and operate across several disciplines within the rail and London Underground networks along with other infrastructure sectors. We are in a period of growth and as part of our company wide project, we are looking to add a qualified Quantity Surveyor to our commercial team, the role is a key appointment on a large project for the business.

Job Purpose

The Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager is responsible for all Commercial matters from tender stage through to contract completion. Primary duties include optimisation of margin on projects and protecting/mitigation of commercial risk, appointment and management of sub-contractors, client negotiation and management. You will support the project team as required. This role requires leadership skills. You will be managing and working alongside the Senior Commercial Manager on a large rail project in the South East.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can formulate, present and manage high-value contract variations and claims through to client agreement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate and influence decisions. Can read, interpret and measure construction drawings. Understanding of contract law. Comfortable undertaking complex Excel and Word tasks.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or commercial management
• A chartered member of MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent (or on the way to becoming chartered)
• Working commercial knowledge in the rail sector ideally, civils or highways experience may be considered
• Experience of working in a tier 1 and tier 2 contractor business.
• Understanding of contract law in particular, Rail contracts
• Knowledge of target cost and earned value
• Working towards an appropriate professional qualification/membership (RICS/CIOB)
