Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: East London
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000
I have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 Main Contractor on a £500m Multi - Disciplinary Rail project in East London.
This Quantity Surveyor will ideally have experience in rail projects, in particular managing Pway packages. You will have the chance to join a young and dynamic team, working closely with 2 x experienced Senior QSs.
Company: Tier 1 Main Contractor turning over circa £500m+ a year. On joining this company you will be offered training and development opportunities that will allow you to progress your career.
Project: This £500m multi-disciplinary project is part of a 5 year framework agreement and has about 1 year left to run before a new 5 years framework will begin..
Duties include:
- Ensuring there is effective cost management of the project through regular and accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.
- Lead and manage the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy. (including references taken, suitable levels of HSEQ etc)
- Monitor and maximise cash flow.
- Support, advise, develop and train all members of the site team on commercial matters.
- Mentor and develop the surveyors within the specific project team.
- Be aware of the contractual requirements of the project, advise the site team on key requirements and ensure that all notices and other matters are actioned accordingly to protect the companies contractual position (Main, Sub-Contracts and consultancy agreements)
- Monitor and chase Main Contract payments
Candidate Requirements:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar / Equivalent HND
- Experience in quantity surveying role within Rail and in particular Pway
- Working knowledge of NEC Target Cost contracts.
- A very good work ethic, willing to work hard and be rewarded for it!
