Mane Contract Services are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a successful project and commercial team based in West London.
Essential Experience:
- Knowledge of the UK infrastructure market
- Experience or knowledge of NEC Contracts (ideally NEC 3 Option C)
- Experience within RC frames, piling, tender documentation, delivering pitches, deep drainage, ground works or heavy civils
The candidate must have the following knowledge;
*Commercial Principles:
oKnow how to put a valuation together
oUnderstand retention
oUnderstand how to apply overhead and profit mark-up
*Construction principles:
oHow are pile-caps constructed
oProcess of digging a trench
oCalculate density of steel in a ground beam
oIf laps on a sheet of mesh are 200mm then how many standard sheets required for a 50m2 area.
oTypes of aggregate and when you would use them.
*Pricing Principles
oBreak a rate down to Labour (productivity) attendant plant, and materials.
oWhat would happen to the rate if more labour was introduced?
oHow much is steel, mesh, pipes?
oWhat adjustments to the cost of aggregate per tonne do you need to do to turn it into a m3 rate?
You will be working with the Senior Project Teams based in West London and working on a number of civil engineering and groundworking/civils works. You will be expected to liaise with clients and principal contractors as well as overseeing the commercial team(s) for each project.
Job Responsibilities:
*Reporting to department head on a daily basis
*Monitoring budgets and compiling & issuing accurate cost reports on a monthly basis
*Issuing monthly interim applications and ensuring payment notices / certificates and payments are received on time
*Resolving contractual and commercial problems where they arise
*Value engineering where possible
*Liaise with procurement department on a daily basis ensuring that project specific items are procured within budget constraints
*Offering direction and instruction
*Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties
*Overseeing financial KPIs
*Management / mentoring / training of other Quantity Surveyors.
*Keeping up to date with site progress, as we working in-line with the programme.
*Keeping track of costs
*Ensuring sub-contractors are being paid the correct amounts
*Compiling valuations and submitting on-site
*Monitoring incoming payments
*Reporting on the job profit/loss.
