Rates - £439.37 LTD/Umbrella OR £389.00 PAYE per day

About the role / project:
Network Rail is looking for a Quantity Surveyor, within their Route Businesses South East (Buildings) function, to look at day to day station maintenance delivered under a term 'maintenance contract' covering building fabric and M&E.
The term 'maintenance contract' covers small projects up to 100k, reactive response (£500-£1000 per fault) and planned preventative maintenance.
Key focus will be the identification of more efficient ways of working under the contract.
What you will do:
You will be required to carry out on-site and desktop audits in order to understand costs/value for money in relation to the contract.
You will provide pre and post contract commercial support to the delivery teams in accordance with the requirements of the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP);
- Evaluate and measure the works within the contracted scope; undertake periodic valuations of works in progress as required. Prepare certificates for payment as required.
- Negotiate and agree payments.
- Establish whether instructions are variations to contract and negotiate value.
- Assist in preparation of estimates for works. Input cost/quantity information into estimating systems and produce reports.
- Manage contractor's day-to-day commercial issues.
- Prepare project budget and detailed estimates. Cost plan as necessary during development to meet financial targets.
- Prepare final accounts, including validation of contractor submissions by measurement and quantification.
- Assist in preparation of tender, pricing and contract documentation. Carry out cost analysis of tenders.
- Input data related to contracts into the company's project management reporting system.
- Undertake under CDM Regulations, as role of Client Representative, Designer and CDM Co-ordinator on behalf of Network Rail in line with company standards.
Your experience will include:
- Experience of maintenance contracts
- Commercial/QS background
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience of managing investment projects
Desirable
- MRICS qualified
- Full Driving Licence
- Understanding of rail industry issues in relation to construction
