THE COMPANY
My client is a leading rail maintenance contractor who are part of a wider construction company operating all over the UK in various sectors, with a group turnover just shy of £1billion. Their rail division is a market specialist who have successfully won work on several frameworks across the UK, with a view to continue growing and to get their foot in the door with larger projects.
They are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the team out of Doncaster!
ABOUT THE JOB
As an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will understand due to the nature of the role, you will be required to travel to projects which could range from £10k to £2million within a wide geographical area. The type of projects my client is involved in vary from station refurbishments to embankment stabilisations, deck replacements, bridge painting, reactive station maintenance - all within a rail capacity.
Ideally, you’d be needing rail knowledge as their main clients are Network Rail and TOCs, however this business is incredibly supportive and are willing to show the ropes of rail to someone with strong estimating/commercial experience looking to step in to rail as well – so if this is an opportunity where it’s ticking all your boxes, get in touch!
IDEAL CANDIDATE
So, now you know what to expect, I bet you’re wondering what would make you successful in this role As with any company, skillset is incredibly important in securing a new role and so they are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with ICE contract awareness within a civil engineering environment – rail experience would be preferable, however if you have experience within other civil engineering sectors I still want to hear from you! You must be confident in your abilities and be able to take your own initiative, as this role will offer a high degree of autonomy.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To be considered for this role, you must have experience as an Intermediate QS looking to step up, or already a Senior QS working on lots of small programmes of work – ideally within rail civils/construction, however if you have experience in construction or other civil engineering sectors, I still want to hear from you!
My client is open on experience as it’s all about getting the right person in – so if you think you’re up to the task and can slot into the team swiftly, you could just be what they’re looking for.
PACKAGE
My client is offering a basic salary up to £50k depending on your experience, plus a company car or car allowance, excellent benefits package and 26 days’ holiday.
