Quantity Surveyor
To monitor and control all costs on allocated rail projects from conception through to final account, ensuring the delivery of tendered gross profit margins.
Key areas of Responsibility & Accountability
- To be able to report cost to date and cost to complete on multiple projects.
- Collate and value change across multiple projects.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts.
- Manage Procurement Schedule and ensure timely procurement of labour, plant, materials and subcontracts.
- Identify, quantify and notify all project variations, maintain the project change control register and early warning to client.
- Timely management of payments including notification, application and collection.
- Maintain up to date contract and commercial records and information including correspondence and documentation on the standard Project File Structure.
- Manage timely notification and submissions of particulars to support entitlements under the contract.
- Foster and uphold robust client and supply chain relationships.
- Prepare and negotiate external applications with clients.
Person Specification
- Recognised quantity surveying qualification or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of Network Rail forms of contract and their administration including NEC, ICE, MF/1 and JCT, in particular target cost contracts
- Member of a professional body, or working towards
- Understanding of the CVR reporting methodology
- Experience of quantity surveying on rail projects of £2 million plus in value
- Experience of working for a contractor in a client and supplier facing environment
- Experience of working in an Alliance environment
- Awareness of all rail disciplines
- Experience working within a team based in different locations
- Ability to work on own or as part of a team and using own initiatives
