Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail team to work in London, Dartford and South East England.

Role Purpose:

Ensures commercial & contractual control and coordination for a section of a medium project, or a number of small size projects involving a low degree of complexity and/or risk.

As a Quantity Surveyor, your accountabilities will be:

• Contribute to the successful Commercial Performance of a limited complexity Contract or section of a medium Project;
• Ensure full compliance with commercial processes;
• Ensure effective Main and Subcontract administration in order to deliver project commercial strategy;
• Develop effective relationships with Customers (Internal and External) and ensuring the timely provision of information between all parties;
• Work in conjunction with the Operations team to identify, escalate and mitigate risks;
• Ensure that insurance claims are notified in accordance with BB Rail requirements and that the necessary data relating to claims is compiled;
• Contribute to the Safety Leadership of the Project/Contract;
• Ensure that accurate timely commercial advice is provided to the Project/Contract;
• Work to exceed expected quality standards, comply with processes.

The following skills and experience are required:

• An understanding of Contract Law and Insurances;
• Knowledge of differing standard forms of contract Working knowledge of risk management;
• Knowledge and understanding of sub-contracting principles;
• Ability to provide contract advice to teams;
• Ability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative;
• Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines;
• Enthusiasm and results focus;
• Effective negotiation skills – with internal and external customers;
• IT literate;
• Ability to analyse data;
• Good attention to detail.
