An exciting opportunity to join the Paddington based team, delivering signalling works on the railway infrastructure across West London. Having secured projects to deliver signalling upgrades and implement European Train Control System (ETCS) on the Paddington to Reading (P2R) route and beyond to help improve reliability, increase capacity and pave the way for the construction of the HS2 Hub at Old Oak Common.
As the Lead Quantity Surveyor you will play a key role supporting the Commercial Manager and the Project Manager in optimising margin through maximising value and minimising costs whilst protecting the project from commercial risk
As a Lead Quantity Surveyor we need someone who can:
* Provide commercial management expertise and clear guidance on contract requirements and documentation.
* Manage the client change control account up to and including final account.
* Manage the recording of progress and delays, change management and keep relevant contemporaneous records.
* Produce and issue client application for payments in line with contract requirements utilising programme Earned Value.
* Maintain subcontract accounts including the issue of payment notices in accordance with contractual and legal requirements.
* Manage the negotiation of subcontract disputes, in line with agreed commercial strategy.
* Review project-level risks and advise on avoidance and mitigation proposals.
* Contribute fully in project financial control and reporting.
* Develop positive relationships with the client, sub-contractors and suppliers.
* Represent the commercial team at project and client meetings.
The successful candidate must have the following skills, qualifications & experience:
* Substantial commercial experience working for a main contractor.
* Experience working in a railway environment.
* Working knowledge of planning and the use of programmes in the management of contracts.
* Working knowledge of conflict avoidance, management and dispute resolution procedures.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Appreciation of Health, Safety and Sustainability matters relative to the construction industry.
It is also desirable for candidates to hold or be working towards a recognised professional qualification or technical membership in commercial management.
