Quantity Surveyor in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will be part of the project's commercial team and will be directly responsible for maximising contract entitlement, providing expert support to the relevant teams. You will assist in the management of the preparation of commercial events and continuously recommending proposed actions. You will be site based, but maybe required to travel to other offices for associated meetings from time to time.
You will be required to demonstrate:
- Experience of large scale projects
- NR12 / Target Cost contract experience
- Maintained previous roles for a reasonable length of time
- Change / Cost control
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Creation and development of templates and to accurately estimate construction costs for tendering purposes.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts for the project.
- Working with project managers, site managers, project engineers and by carrying out site visits, have a good understanding of actual progress from site and ensure appropriate commercial records are being kept to support any variations and/or claims.
- Identify when Client variations, claims, extensions of time, acceleration and prolongation claims arise. Prepare claims and present to Client in a timely manner and as per the contract.
- Support procurement and Supply Chain Management. Cascade contractual obligations into the supply chain.
- Capture cost information and put monitor Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR). Organise regular contract review meetings to address any issues affecting expected final margin.
- Put metrics in place to ensure cost and time budgets/targets are being met.
- Final account preparation and negotiation both upstream with Clients and downstream with Suppliers and Sub-contractors.
- Evaluate projects to gather cost and time information to be used to improve future performance. Collate a database of cost and time information from past projects to be used in planning and estimating costs for future projects.
- Risk identification and management.
- On site presence required / practical engagement in contracts.
- Require contract form understanding on NWR Framework Agreements or Target Cost Contracts.
